Gyirong: Officers of the Shigatse Detachment of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force carry out search and rescue operations in an area near Gyirong Port, in Gyirong, southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, on Friday, August 28, 2026. Since the mudslide disaster occurred in Gyirong on August 26, the Shigatse Detachment has dispatched more than 140 personnel to carry out rescue operations. On Friday morning, the detachment sent more than 30 additional rescue personnel to the mission area about 2 km from Gyirong Port to carry out emergency rescue and search operations. After arriving at the site, the personnel organised operations according to the disaster situation and carried out road clearance and searches for missing persons in an orderly manner, while coordinating with other rescue forces.
